Courage and hope through art

This week's I Am the Diva Challenge (#171) was inspired by Beads of Courage, an organization that supports children and their families who are dealing with life-threatening or chronic illnesses. I thought of my cousin K and my friend's daughter, J, who are both dealing with major illnesses in their very young ages, while I tangled this:

I have such admiration for young people and their parents who have chronic or life-threatening diseases and the courage that they must muster in order to live. The pains of our human existence are even more obvious in the sick, as well as the intangible gifts -- hope, courage, tenacity, resilience, inspiration, faith -- that rise from suffering.

Here are two other recent tanglings...

My current mandala-in-progress. (And I am so happy to see The Bright Owl's zendala dare return! My zendala contribution will soon follow!)

  2. Hi Katie sorry for the sudden second comment. I just noticed, in your profile, that you are, indeed, a brand new CZT as of this month. May I congratulate you and say, well done, and well earned. That is a great accompolishment.

  4. Love your comments about Beads of Courage. I also loved that your thoughts were on two young kiddos that are dealing with illnesses at such a young age. Your sentiments and drawings are both beautiful!!!

    1. For sure! And yet when I'm tangling, it never feels like "busy work." Sweetness in life! Thanks!

  6. It is incredibly challenging for anyone who has or knows a seriously ill child - very painful - but definitely requiring a great deal of courage. As for the children themselves, they are ironically, almost superhuman sometimes. Lovely tangles, Katie, and all love for those directly involved. Axxx
